[Vancouver Day 4 – White Rock, Walks, and a Beautiful Surprise]

[밴쿠버 여행 4일차 – 화이트락, 산책 그리고 놀라운 선물]

Some days are just full of little joys—and then one big, beautiful surprise at the end. Today was exactly that.

가끔은 작은 기쁨들이 가득한 하루에, 마지막에 커다란 선물이 더해지기도 하죠. 오늘이 바로 그런 날이었어요.

We spent the day in White Rock, a peaceful beach town just outside Vancouver. The kids had a blast playing on the beach—digging in the sand, running around, and getting their feet wet in the ocean. While they played, we walked along Canada’s longest pier, soaking in the sea breeze and taking in the beautiful view of the coastline.

오늘은 밴쿠버 근교의 평화로운 해변 마을 화이트락에서 하루를 보냈어요. 아이들은 해변에서 모래를 파고, 물놀이를 하며 정말 신나게 놀았고, 우리는 **캐나다에서 가장 긴 피어(부두)**를 걸으며 바닷바람을 맞고 아름다운 해안 풍경을 감상했어요.

For lunch, Eun-ah had packed homemade musubi, and I enjoyed a few of those while relaxing on the beach. As for the kids, I ordered them fish and chips—8 pieces of fish, fries, and 6 drinks. It ended up costing about $130, which felt a bit expensive… but the kids were so happy that it was totally worth it. Their joy made my heart full.

점심으로는 은아가 정성껏 만든 무스비를 싸 와서 저는 그걸 먹으며 여유를 즐겼고, 아이들에겐 피쉬 앤 칩스를 주문했어요. 생선 8조각에 감자튀김, 음료수 6개로 총 $130, 가격이 좀 세긴 했지만 아이들이 너무 좋아해서 전혀 아깝지 않았어요. 그 행복한 얼굴들을 보니 제 마음도 흐뭇해졌답니다.

After lunch, we took a two-hour walk along the waterfront trail, letting time slow down for a bit. The fresh sea air and the gentle waves made for a perfect afternoon. We capped it off with bubble tea, followed by a visit to the most popular café in White Rock, where we sipped coffee and took in the view.

점심 후에는 해안 산책로를 따라 2시간 정도 산책을 했어요. 바닷바람을 맞으며 천천히 걷는 그 시간이 정말 좋았어요. 산책을 마친 후엔 버블티로 갈증을 달래고, 화이트락에서 가장 유명한 카페에 들러 커피 한 잔 마시며 여유로운 시간을 보냈죠.

When we got back, we headed over to Young-ah’s house, where we had a mini party with donkatsu and tteokbokki—comfort food at its best. And then came the biggest surprise of the day: our son Minjun got accepted to the University of Calgary! The news felt like a gift straight from God—a beautiful way to end a beautiful day.

저녁엔 영아네 집에서 돈까스와 떡볶이 파티를 열었어요. 따뜻한 집밥과 함께 모두 즐거운 시간을 보냈죠. 그리고 오늘의 하이라이트, 깜짝 선물이 찾아왔어요—우리 아들 민준이가 캘거리 대학교에 합격했다는 소식!

이 소식은 정말 하나님이 주신 하루의 선물 같았어요. 이렇게 멋지게 하루를 마무리할 수 있다니, 감사한 마음뿐입니다.
